Characteristics

The light-vented bulbul has apparent white feathers on its head. Its calls are smooth and bright and have many variations. Sometimes the calls sound like “cha-ko-lee! cha-ko-lee!” The bird is also called the “pe̍h-thâu-khok-á” in Taiwanese.
Habits: The light-vented bulbul often appears in flats and low-altitude forests and mainly eats fruits, seeds, and insects. Along with the Eurasian tree sparrow and the Japanese white-eye, the three birds are known as the “city’s three treasures” or “city’s three musketeers”.
Resident/Common; Body length: 18 cm
Birdwatching period: all year round
